Feature Friday with Tracy Botica Photography!

The talented Tracy Botica of Tracy Botica Photography was the winner of last week's 'elements' challenge, and she has graciously shared a bit about her life and love for photography here today!

1. Please tell us about yourself...

I live in a small rural town in New South Wales called Henty. We only recently bought our home here and my husband and I are enjoying making all the little touches to make it our own smile emoticon:) My two boys are my little muses but I hope one day to make photography my full time career.

2. Can you describe your style in 3 words? Why those words?

Natural, emotive, lifestyle. That is probably the question I find hardest to answer though cause I feel like I'm continually evolving and growing!.

3. What sparked your passion for photography?

The first thing that really got me going in photography was creating conceptual portraits! I saw somewhere that you could put multiple photos together in photoshop and that got my head spinning lol. So my first couple of years I mainly did conceptual/fine art portraits. After having kids though my photography journey took another direction.

4. What's in your camera bag right now?

I use a Nikon D610 with a 35mm 1.4 or 85mm 1.8. I would love to get my hands on a lensbaby soon!

5. What is your dream shoot or project?

I would love to work with models one day and go on a big location shoot where I could let my imagination run wild!

6. What are some of the misconceptions you had about photography and photographers at the beginning of your photography journey? Have they changed, and how?

In the beginning I probably didn't think that the photography community would be as supportive or as big as it is. I was so suprsed at the amount of online communities that help and support other photographers. I think it's a really great environment to be a part of.

7. What advice would you give to newbie photographers? What advice do you wish you'd been given at the very beginning?

My advice to new photographers would be to enjoy it! Don't get too bogged down by all the "rules" out there. There is so much to learn, be greatful for feedback - especially the not so great feedback because it will only push you to get better. Don't let anyone get you down, just keep improving yourself and remember art is also subjective.
