Bold

I truly loved seeing all the different intrepretations of 'bold!' From the colours, to the movements, bravery to flavours - so beautiful!
The following images are the ones that pulled me back, again and again:

All those crazy patterns are just wild, but my favourite part is the glasses!

We have had a very strange winter here too, and more grass showing at this time of year than is usual. I love that you found a little boldness in nature (fight that cold and snow!), and the light and pretty bokeh in this shot is beautiful!

I'm really drawn to the calm expression vs that wild hair toss - and of course that beautiful light!

I'm a sucker for simple, and there is much to love about this shot. The bare feet of the littlest, the way they are scooched in together but looking in different directions, and of course all that brilliant RED!

Good gracious, that hair is FABULOUS!  Keep your crazy, bold hair wild little one, it's awesome!

That wall <3 <3 <3 Love the centre composition, and the stripes of her (his?) shirt against the pattern of the background!

I love how it feels like this is a scene from a movie. Everyone is looking in a different direction, but the boy in the bold, bright shirt is taking a flying leap off a fence.

Gorgeous colours, and I like the contrast between a celebration (Holi) and the absolutely quiet, deserted scene behind the subject.

Of course the colours match the theme, but her face!  It screams mischief and trouble (the good kind) lol!

If there is such a thing as quiet boldness, this image is it. Incredibly simple, and just arresting. The lighting and her strong gaze are beautiful.

I've chosen this image as our winner this week:

For obvious reasons, this was a perfect choice for our theme. Coupled with the words on the poster and the pose of strength, the bold red shirt against the neutrals in the background draws my eye right to the subject. I hope you print this for her!

{delicate}







I love the idea of how delicate details can make an image strong and more emotive.

I love that this image captures not only the delicate bubble but the patience of the sweet little girl.






I love the perspective image with the sun peaking into the corner of the photo.  It makes me think of a warm summer morning.





The tones in this photo are just stunning.  I love the delicate nature of the fading blooms!



I love the dramatic edit on this photo.  The details of the dew drops on the flowers is just stunning.




I love the delicate braids combined with the delicate lace on the top of her dress.



This shot is so impressive.  I have no idea the patience to capture such a delicate creature resting on his hand.  



The delicate nature of a tiny snowflake is always stunning to me.  Such a beautiful capture!



This one speaks to my dancer's heart.  I love the delicate classic details of this photo.




I love the dark grit mixed with the dainty beauty of the flowers.  Beautiful!!




Nothing quite as sweet as delicate baby hands.  I think they are some of my favorite captures.

{run wild my child}

{Run Wild My Child}

I chose this theme because I love photographing my kids being kids. 
Being their wild and free selves and they are always running…lol!





The happiness and laughter in this photograph is contagious! Do I have to mention the panning skills! I would love to have a photograph like this of my children!







I love how carefree this image is. This is her being her and you can see how happy she is!







I really love the composition and the ripples in the water drawing your eye to the little subject.






The movement in this image is great, it looks as though she’s dancing! I also love the tones in this image as well!




I love the composition and colors and how he’s captured mid stride!





This photo is so eye-catching! What’s not to love, that sky, the composition, it’s just gorgeous!







Oh my gosh, wherever this is I want to go there! I’d love to run through this field of beautiful green grass with mountain views!






I’m a sucker for negative space and I love that it’s shot low! It kind of reminds me of the Sound of Music, one of my favorite movies!





The bare feet and tongue sticking out got me. 
This is the billboard for Run Wild My Child and I love it!

{this adventure called life}






Thank you for the honor of judging this week. 
 I'm so pleased to be able to highlight these images.
The top ten in no particular order.





I chose this image because I really like the photojournalistic nature of the moment. The setting implies that a great adventure is about to begin and the figure entering the scene adds so much content to the story.






What greater adventure is there in life than that of being a parent? This image captures the love, the contentment, and a bit of the overwhelm that is parenthood.  I love the bright, clean conversion too.

I love the humor in this image and how the photographer put herself in the frame. The leading lines of her legs bring the eye directly to these two characters who are having such fun in the snow!





There are so many wonderful elements here - the beautiful storytelling, the edit and composition, the reflection and the expression on this little guy's face.  





This image reminds us that on this adventure called life, we must keep our sense of humor and not take life too seriously!  Technically, this image has so much to offer - lovely composition, a fantastic edit, big emotion and incredible timing!





They could be simply going to the grocery store, but the sense of peace on the subject's face and the wind in his hair suggest something bigger is happening.  Fantastic capture of an older child!  




I love this typical moment played out in this over-the-top location!  




The reflection of the subject and the atmosphere of the train demonstrate something fun and adventurous happening. I also love that the subject is out of focus which gives a mysterious, dreamy quality.





Perhaps the greatest adventure for children is simply to be free and play.  I adore this edit and the golden light of this carefree moment. 






How many times have I watched my own kids lead their own adventure in an everyday setting?  I love the trailblazing quality of this little one and the bright pop of yellow.




AND THE WINNER is:




The tones, the movement of the grass, the people going up, the sense of wonder and excitement.  I adore the spirit of adventure in this gorgeous image!

{play}




{PLAY} 
was the theme I choose for this week's guest judging. 
I am a momma to five kids, ages 12 years to 18 months old. 
My life is centered around them and we place a lot our focus around playtime. 
Observing my kids in undirected play is where I learn the most about them,
 how their minds work, what they pick up, and how they are organizing it all.
 At this stage in my artistic journey, being able to tell the story
of how they are evolving and learning and changing fuels my passion for photography. 
I also love seeing other families valuing play in their own way. 
This week's theme has been a real treat for me; 
all the submissions of {PLAY} spoke directly to my momma heart. 
Here are a few that really stood out. 





Love, love, love b&w conversions and this one is perfect! The light coming through the window, the rim lighting, their gloriously adorable laughing faces!!  





This one had me stopping and taking a longer look. It adds so many of my favorite things together, three of them being Swings, Action, and Emotion!! 


Oh wow! Those eyes! The conversion, the hat, the harmonica..all coming together with this old-timey vibe, put this one on top! 




Perfect perceptive to tell this story. I love good action shots because as a viewer I am transported to this moment. The movement of the rope and the wind in the subjects shirt and the curling of his toes all that speaking to me on what this FEELS like! 




The first thing I see when looking at this image is that magnificent open-mouthed laugh. And because I am one of those people that laugh or cry just because someone else is, even if I don't know why.  I admittedly start cracking up and want to know what is so funny. Add in pink tutu's and a table full of friends, this is where I want to play!! 





Another one that makes me seriously giggle out loud. Boys! Love them and how they play. 
Perfect capture to remember this age! 




Yep, I'm a sucker for silhouettes! 
Add in little precious hands playing a classic hand clapping game 
and a few wisps of hair and I am swooning.

How cool is this!? Love the mirror and the effect it is creating with the colored doors in the background. The action of playing in the sink water makes this a very fun shot! 


A swing inside!! I must get one!! This shot has it all, handsome fella
with beautiful happy smile, action and THAT LIGHT!! 


I enjoy seeing adults playing just like kids. The composition of this image pulls my eye to the middle subject, where that look of complete admiration
from one so young completely melts my heart. 





Winner 





This moment spoke to me as soon as I saw it. I love the colors and composition. The interaction with big Sis and little Bro pulls on my heart strings. The bond they are forming, the older sibling passing down the hand clapping game, how the two are facing each other, the light and the slant of the ceiling framing it, as well as the bands of light that are pulling focus into the subject, make this, for me, PERFECT!
