- Tell us about yourself: Hi there! I am a Nikon loving, snap happy Mama to two little firecrackers. I don’t even remember life before them.
- What ignited your passion for photogrpahy, and what keeps it going now? Like most ‘mom togs’ I bought my first DSLR after our first daughter was born. I spent my first days with my camera taking pictures of every meal she ate, her toes, posing her amongst an army of stuffed animals and taking other super original shots. As cheesy as those snaps are, I am glad I have them to look back on. These days, I am holding myself to a bit of a higher standard. I am lucky to be a part of this wonderful community of photographers in which we inspire and push each other. I want to grow daily.. even if its just a bit.
- What's in your camera bag? I shoot a Nikon D610 with a 35 1.4 ART. I also have a 50 1.4, but it pretty much is out of commission. My favorite non camera/lens item is definitely my expodisc! I am pretty picky about WB these days, and it helps keep me on track! I recently bought a remote for my camera to and look forward to experimenting. I was also recently bit by the film bug, and was passed down an Olymous 35mm.
- What is your dream project? I would love to find a way to use my photography to benefit families affected by childhood cancer. Until recently I had no idea what an epidemic I was looking at. I am not sure yet what this project would or will look like.
- What's the biggest challenge you face as a photographer? The biggest challenge I face as a photographer is facing the feeling that I cant keep up. Whether its not being able to keep up with what other photographers work, or not being able to keep up with my photography related obligations in addition to raising my family.. Such a hard thing to keep UP!
- If you had $500 to spend on photography... If I had $500 to spend on photography, I should save it to pay taxes {yawn}. I wish I could spend it on some new glass! I am currently swooning over the 100mm 2.8 macro! I would probably spend it on upgrading my website.
- Is there anything you wish someone had told you at the beginning of your photography journey? Something I wish somebody told me at the beginning of my journey is ‘The yellow and blue sliders in Lightroom are not to give images a ‘fun’ look.’ Ha. Kidding aside, I wish somebody told me that a huge artistic breakthrough is usually preceded by the feeling that you are about to give up. Push through that feeling.
