{quiet}

I really enjoyed looking through all the images submitted for this theme! There were a lot of gorgeous images that had a true quiet feel to them and it was hard to narrow them down. When I think of quiet in a photograph, I most often look to how the light is used in the image. Light plays such a huge part in the mood of any given photo.
I think soft, subtle light really lends itself to speaking quietly in an image.

Here are the top 10 in no particular order…

A winter sunset over untouched snow definitely gives a sense of quiet to the viewer. I love the cool tones in this image and the quietness they also bring.

I love the minimalistic composition in this image, and paired with the clouds in the sky, it’s just gorgeous. The sound of the wind is the only noise and I can almost feel it looking at this image.

I adore the conversion and texture in this photograph. It feels like it is from another time and I love the story it tells.

The softness in this photo is just so beautiful and completely gives a quiet feel to the image. The composition, the soft way her hair is being swept to the side and her eyes closed softly all lend to the calm and peaceful feel to this photograph. Just stunning!

When it rains, it’s loud, when the wind blows, it’s loud, but most times, when the snow falls, it’s so quiet. Almost eerily quiet. A simple portrait in snowfall is the perfect way to bring a sense of quiet to a photograph.

I love the composition here and the way he seems to be peeking in quietly. The subtle light and shadows definitely work well here too.

A library is most definitely a quiet place! Gosh, I am just in love with those light rays. They really put the viewers attention on the girl reading her book. Wonderful photo.

The light in this image is just beautiful. It’s subtle but still bright. The girl lying down is so very relaxed and I love the way the light is falling on her and bringing attention to the way her body is positioned.

I can relate to this image so much. Sometimes we just need a quiet moment, when the world and the noise in it is too much. What a gorgeous and powerful image.

And the winner is…

I love the use of this perfect pocket of light to highlight a sweet moment. The rest of the image is fairly dark, but light enough to see other elements in the room, all of which have simple lines that lead you right back to the subjects. A very beautiful quiet photograph.

Thank you so much for having me over to guest judge. And thank you everyone for submitting such gorgeous images!
