Weekly Favorites and Experiments for the Week of July 20th

This was a tough week to decide on favorites! I easily could have picked 20!
The rules say 10 though and I eventually narrowed down the field to these favorites.

I love the basic simplicity of this image. Soft, sweet, clean. Exactly what a baby feels and smells like (most of the time anyway!)
The little drool of milk might seem like a flaw, but in fact what makes this image absolutely perfect!

Red skies at night, sailor's delight. I think that's how it goes... This is just such an interesting image.
The colors, reflections, and composition just keep drawing me in.

Such a fun image! Great pops of primary colors and use of basic shapes too. Triangle in his pose, circle, squares, rectangles in the background make for a very interesting and dynamic composition.

I love a good backlit, golden hour image! Mostly because I KNOW how tricky they are to achieve.
The colors, tones, and shadows are used perfectly here to tell the story of a lazy summer afternoon.

We all love playing with photography toys. This prism effect was an awesome edition to this fashion like image. It added just the right summer feel.

I love this cake smash. It is such a fresh perspective of an often seen image. The muted pastel colors are a perfect addition to the story as well.

I love the timelessness of this image. it's hard to tell if it was taken in the 70's or anytime between then and today. The combined movement of her hair, wrap, and the ocean too all create a really beautiful image.

The movement created by spinning and the unique angle make this such an awesome image. It truly is a vortex that just draw your eyes in to see such fabulous curls and that joyous abandon one feels as a child in the middle of making yourself dizzy.

Sweet baby eyelashes are harder to capture than
one might think and here they are done so in a most excellent manner.
The color here is also sublime
and expertly handled creating a sweet dreamy image.

This is one of those technically imperfect shots. It is exactly the imperfections that make it so very interesting though. First the ambiguity of what I am looking at makes me look deeper trying to  understand, and what are essentially blown out highlights are masterfully transformed into areas of glow. At once it is both celestial in the lights and terrestrial in the darks. A perfect balance of opposites.
