{macro}

What a wonderful week of macro images. The task this week was to enjoy the little things in life and there is no doubt that every single one of you succeeded at that. Thank you to everybody for your awesome submissions. Narrowing these down wasn’t easy.

The erratic lines, spheres of dew and soft lighting reminds me of summer. Love this.

Abstract, buttery, beautiful

The texture and different lines make this image stand out.

This image was described as soulful and I would have to agree. I love the reflection captured in the frog’s eye too – great detail.

A creative concept – I love the use of macro and food here. The linguini mimics a texture you would see in marine life. Awesome!

The deep colors are stunning here but more than that, I love the asymmetry of the bloom. Gorgeous.

Brandi Stafford

There were several awesome dandelion pictures but I loved the softness to this image and the horizontal orientation of the lines – they draw me in.

Great work, Brandi!

I love the colors in this image created by the soft diffused Golden Hour lighting.

I also love the single water drop and the repeating circles in the background. Awesome!

It isn’t always easy to get everything you want in focus when shooting macro. The petals and dew drops are sharp and the contrasting deep colors are great.

The natural texture, repeating shapes and simple white background make this a standout for sure!

And the winner is....

This image incorporates bright colors, textures and organic shapes but this image by Kristi Fritz Martin is more than a beautiful capture. With this image, Kristi takes macro photography to another level. Not only does she capture the beauty of subtlety and detail that macro is known for, she captured a microcosmical view of motherhood. It took a photographer who could really slow down and be still to notice this interaction happening on such a miniature level. Congratulations to all the photographers in the top 10 this week and congratulations to Kristi Fritz Martin for being selected as this week’s winner – stunning work.

Thank you to everybody who participated.

Enjoy the little things,
Sarah Rypma
