{mischief}

“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”

"Mischief, thou art afoot."
― William ShakespeareJulius Caesar

Kids and pets, by nature, are mischievous, and I've had a wonderful time sorting through the havoc they wreak on all of your homes.  I definitely think we, as photographers, tend to let our children get away with a little more, or at least let them continue the mischievous behavior until we have the shot we want on the camera. I know I'm guilty! Just last week, my kids were explaining to my husband that they're only allowed to jump on their beds when Mom has her camera out.

This is such a little kid thing to do. I love the parental perspective, her choice of Band-Aid placement, and the trash all over the floor.

Anyone who's ever had a pet can relate to trying to keep the child out of the dog food. I love the composition and the moment!

The framing sets the scene so completely, and the little face popping out of the dryer? Adorable! This kid will be an expert at hide and seek.

What kid hasn't done this at a playground?  Plus, I love the framing that the play structure adds to the scene.

The perspective and framing of this shot are awesome! I can only image walking through the room and seeing this out of the corner of my eye.  So funny!

I can hear the laughter in this one.  It makes me wonder what's just happened and which is the culprit.  I love the sun flare.  This shot just screams summer mischief and fun!

I love this.  The leading lines draw you in, and I want to know if she's taking a bath, or if it's just playtime for the two of them. Just a great moment.

This image just draws me in; I love the real life moment, and I want to know what was so interesting that he had to climb on top of the high chair to see.  I love his reflection in the fridge, too!  Such a great capture.

This is wonderful.  The moment, and the light on the water  is beautiful.  I can hear the laughter and the feel the sense of fun!  Plus, who doesn't wear a hat when playing in the sink?!

.................................................

I related to this image, on a personal level, more than any other submission.  Toddler twin boys, similarly dressed, making a mess together in the kitchen; this conjures so many memories for me!  The way the light reflects their sweet little faces on the oven window is amazing, too!  I LOVE this image!!

and the winner is....

I loved this one as soon as I saw it, and kept coming back to it.  This images screams mischief and fun. It makes me wonder if they were supposed to be getting ready for bed, and they something more entertaining instead.  I love the contrast in tone, and the negative space. So wonderful!

I thoroughly enjoyed judging this week; the images were tons of fun, and it makes my heart happy to know there are so many of us out there who reach for the camera before we clean up the messes!!
